 Paloma Bella, which means “Beautiful Dove” in Spanish, was created in 2004 as a tool of hope. I am a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom who needed some hope. After a series of personal crises, one of which was my mother’s battle with ovarian cancer, I found myself needing to see some sign of hope that things would not always be so dark. I discovered that I enjoyed and had a talent for creating jewelry. Creating the jewelry gave me a sense of calm. Soon I found people really liked my designs and wanted to buy them. I realized that God had sent this to me as a means of 1) getting out of myself, my fear and 2)making the extra money we needed so I could continue to stay home and homeschool.
So what do I call this new business venture? One day, while doing my devotions, God led me to the verse in Genesis that says “When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in it’s beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf. Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth.” This was God’s sign to Noah that even though all he could see, everywhere he looked was water, that somewhere out there was the promise of dry land. The dove brought that hope to Noah, like my jewelry brought that hope to me. There in lies the name Paloma Bella, Beautiful Dove. God has been so good and ever faithful to continue to bless me in this adventure.
